Final year surgical residents
- Those that have applied for and paid for their assessment of training for Surgical Foundations prior to the exam year 2023, and are now ready to apply for assessment of training of their surgical specialty, are not required to submit an additional assessment of training fee. This fee has already been collected.
- Moving forward - when applying for assessment of training for Surgical Foundations, candidates are not required to submit a fee for the assessment of training. They will pay the assessment fee when they apply for the assessment of training of the surgical specialty.
Apply for assessment and confirmation of your exam eligibility
You can apply for a training assessment by registering with the Royal College and submitting your application through our eBooking online platform.
- If you do not have a Royal College ID, first complete the registration form (or type out the URL: https://rclogin.royalcollege.ca/webcenter/portal/forms_en/pages_esr?t=cred ). Following receipt of your ID number, log in to our online platform (or type the URL: booking.royalcollege.ca ).
- If you are an existing candidate/applicant and already have a Royal College ID, log in to the online platform (or type the URL: booking.royalcollege.ca ). You can click on “Reset your password” or “Forgot your ID” if necessary.

Following the submission of your application for assessment, you will be emailed an acknowledgment of its receipt. Once deemed eligible, a ruling letter outlining your eligibility for the 2024 exams will be sent to you by email in February/March 2024. Note the registration deadline for the fall 2024 exams is April 15th, 2024.
Once granted, eligibility is valid for five consecutive years.
