More tips, resources to come

More resources will be added to the QI in Motion series as they become available. The series will feature a mix of informative videos, mini case studies, micro learning and other useful “how to” tools designed to support a QI project in any health care setting (clinical, research, education, or primary care).

The Ottawa Hospital Innovation Framework™
is a health care-centric, five-step approach that combines elements of other well-known models in a comprehensive and user-friendly way.

Here are the framework’s five steps to follow for your QI project:

  • define the problem,
  • analyze the situation,
  • test and trial improvements,
  • lock-in improvements, and
  • evaluate and spread the improvements.

Each step is accompanied by useful tools, templates and reference materials that provide the guidance you need to move through every stage.

If you have a question about the framework or the tools, or if you have an idea for a practical tip that we can share, or want to share your experience with a QI project, please send an email to ppi@royalcollege.ca.
